Hockey Night in Canada? WTF!
Posted On 11/17/2008 18:44:57 by hotchnuts
For those that are not familiar with it, we have a CBC (Canadian Broadcasting) that has Hockey Night in Canada every Saturday night.  Unfortunately, since their offices are in Toronto, the feel that they have to broadcast the leafs every Saturday night.  Take this past weekend as an example.  With the leafs on a west coast road trip, I thought we would maybe see a different team (Mon or Ott) in the early time slot.

Was I ever wrong.  The time for the Vancouver game was a 4 pm EST start.  When has anyone on the west coast ever seen a game start at 4?  I have been to 1:00 games, but have never heard of a 4:00 start.  Due to the time change, that allowed CBC to show the leafs in the early slot.  Why does the CBC feel that they have to broadcast the leafs in the early slot?

The NHL schedule makers have a hand in this too.  Check the leafs schedule.  Was a 4:00 start time to appease the CBC?  Every Saturday night, another 7:00 start time.
Lets look at the Western Conference teams.  The late game coverage is divided between the three teams; Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.  Why does the CBC not take this approach with the three Eastern Conference teams?  In my opinion, it would satisfy all hockey viewers, and not just their Toronto fans.

sounds like pandering to the Leafs fans.
I guess you should be glad they don't play to many games in Europe,
having Hockey Night at Noon would be tough to explain.
